Collingwood Street

Fonterra’s Collingwood Street site in Eltham is the largest consumer and foodservice cheese manufacturing plant in Australasia.

Established in 1985, and acquired by Fonterra in 2005, the site was created to manufacture processed cheese.


Fonterra Collingwood Street produces 70,000 tonnes of processed, natural block, natural shred & IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) cheeses for domestic and export markets each year.


This includes cheese produced for Fonterra’s much-loved brands Mainland and Anchor.


SUSTAINABILITY

A leader in sustainability, Fonterra Collingwood Street won the Fonterra Annual Eco-Efficiency Award in 2007, 2008 and 2010.


All waste cardboard generated at the site is sent for recycling at the Carter Holt Harvey Kinleith plant – in 2011 the site recycled a total of 2000 tonnes. Plastic waste from the site is recycled into plastic garden products.
