Through this partnership, Fonterra will sponsor the 'Moo to You' science kits — hands-on classroom resources that explore animal classification, digestion, nutrition, and the diverse range of dairy products in a fun way. Moo to You science kits bring the world of dairy to life through interactive experiments like growing pasture, making silage, and comparing human and cow digestion.
Originally developed in collaboration with DairyNZ, the 'Moo to You' kits are now proudly supported by Fonterra to ensure their continued reach and impact in schools. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to connecting rangatahi with the dairy industry through engaging and educational experiences.
Importantly, the 'Moo to You' kits are designed to be inclusive for all Kiwi kids, with comprehensive resources available in both Te Reo Māori and English. They’re already being used in a wide range of classrooms across the country, including kura kaupapa Māori, and Fonterra’s sponsorship will help extend their availability to even more students and communities.
"Partnering with House of Science on the Moo to You programme is a great way for Fonterra’s Research & Development to connect with the next generation. By making science accessible and relevant, we hope to open doors to future opportunities in our sector. It’s about showing young New Zealanders the possibilities that science and innovation can unlock — not only the future of dairy, but also for securing a brighter future for New Zealand." says Fonterra's Director of Research and Development, Dr Pierre Venter.
Chris Duggan, CEO of House of Science, says “Fonterra’s investment in our work reflects a shared belief in the power of science to shape a better future—one where curiosity, critical thinking, and innovation are encouraged from an early age. Together, we will reach even more schools and communities, ensuring every child has the opportunity to explore the wonders of science in a hands-on, meaningful way.”
This initiative reflects Fonterra’s commitment to education, inclusivity, sustainability, and innovation — and our belief in creating a strong, diverse pipeline of future talent for the dairy industry.
We can’t wait to see how this partnership brings dairy to life in classrooms across the motu!
