Caring for Communities

Doing good together in our communities

We partner with organisations to collectively do more for our communities and show manaakitanga (generosity and care).

Through our Doing Good Together programme we'll continue to support communities in need with the natural goodness of dairy. We'll work to empower communities to protect and restore nature and provide the care and support to keep our rural communities thriving, both here in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world. Because a better Aotearoa New Zealand comes from doing good together.

Celebrating the impact we make together.

Our hero programmes and partnerships

We're working together to help put good quality nutrition in the hands of those who need it most, provide care and support that keeps our rural communities strong and protect and regenerate the environment for future generations.

KickStart Breakfast

KickStart Breakfast has served more than 70 million breakfasts and runs in over 1,400 schools nationwide.

Feed Out

Feed Out is a national charity working with dairy farmers and processers to supply needed dairy products to food banks throughout New Zealand. Fonterra farmers can donate a little of what they produce and have it processed, packaged and delivered to families doing it tough.

New Zealand Food Network

The New Zealand Food Network exists to get food to where it’s needed most. NZFN accepts large volumes of surplus and intentional donations and redistributes it to more than 65 food hubs across Aotearoa, who in turn connect with over 1,200 food banks and other community groups throughout the motu.

Doing Good Fund

Doing Good Fund is open to community groups and schools all year round. We offer cash funding and dairy products, operating in 10 regions across Aotearoa we also work closely with our partners at Community Foundations New Zealand to amplify our impact. To learn more about the programme and check eligibility, click the link below.

Rural Support Trust

Fonterra is proud to partner with Rural Support Trust, New Zealand's only not for profit charity providing one on one support behind the farmgate to support rural communities. The partnership highlights our commitment to support the invaluable work they do, especially during challenging times. Fonterra supports the Trust through funding and in kind support, ensuring their long term impact in rural communities.

Surfing for Farmers

Fonterra is proud to support Surfing for Farmers across Aotearoa. Surfing for Farmers is a mental health and wellbeing initiative supporting rural communities by offering them an opportunity to get off farm and take a break. Surfing for Farmers operates in 28 locations and each meet up consists of a laid back surf lesson followed by a yarn and a BBQ.

Trees for Survival

We are proud to work with Trees for Survival in schools across Aotearoa. This school-based programme helps communities grow and plant native species. We provide irrigated shade houses, potting mix, and eco-sourced seedlings annually. Schools transplant and plant these on erosion-prone land and waterways, collaborating with landowners for planting days.
