Fonterra voted Top Graduate Employer

Fonterra has been voted as the Top Graduate Employer in New Zealand by university students and recent graduates as part of the biggest national survey of its kind.

The Talent Solutions and Nxtstep Student Pulse Survey has been running since 2014, with over 1,500 responses received this year.

In a nod to Fonterra’s dedicated graduate initiatives, the Co-op has beaten tough competition including PwC, ANZ, Deloitte, Tonkin & Taylor, Treasury, EY, KPMG and Vodafone who round out the top eight.

“This helps to show just how highly regarded we are as an employer of choice among students,” says Mark Van Zon, Acting Managing Director People and Culture.

It’s a credit to everyone involved in making Fonterra a great place to work, especially the teams who recruit and support our graduates. Plus the graduates themselves do an incredible job of cultivating a fun, welcoming environment.

Fonterra’s Graduate Programme – now with three programmes in Business, Technical and Agri-Business – has been running for over 40 years and is among the most respected and desirable in the country.

It has seen the success of many individuals who have contributed significantly to the organisation, including members of the Fonterra Management Team.

“As a graduate we get such great exposure to different parts of the business as well as meet and learn from so many leaders,” says Alex Williams, 2018 Business Graduate.

The Co-op also has a range of other opportunities for graduates including the First Foundation and Tuputoa scholarships, internships and work experience offered by different business units as well as the award-winning Disrupt programme that has involved a high proportion of millennials.

“We’ve collectively worked hard to promote these offerings and share our story about being committed to talent development, diversity and inclusion, flexibility, rewards and recognition, innovation, CSR and more,” adds Van Zon.

“We want to attract, develop and retain the best talent, because the success of our Co-op depends on our people. We’re continuously looking for ways to make Fonterra an even better place to work by seeking and listening to feedback and embracing new technologies, capabilities and partnerships.”

The survey has been running since 2014. Fonterra has featured in the top five every year and finished third the last two editions.
