Fonterra partners with New Zealand Food Network

Fonterra has recently signed up as a foundation donor partner to the newly created New Zealand Food Network, a food charity that stores and re-distributes large volumes of surplus and donated food.

Until now, some charities have had to turn away large food donations because they simply don’t have the room to store the food.

Through the partnership Fonterra will donate around 4 million serves of dairy to the New Zealand Food Network this financial year.

Managing Director Fonterra Brands New Zealand Brett Henshaw, says being able to work with the New Zealand Food Network means milk and other dairy products will be able to get to those who need it the most.

“During COVID-19 we redirected close to a million serves of Anchor Milk to communities through food banks, charities and other partners and we saw first-hand what a difference this can make.

“We believe in helping where we can and by working with New Zealand Food Network we will be able to get dairy to a wider community of those who need it the most, efficiently.”

New Zealand Food Networks CEO Gavin Findlay says donors such as Fonterra are vital to the success of the programme.

“NZFN is delighted to partner with Fonterra to deliver much needed goodness into the communities of Aotearoa New Zealand.  With Caring for people a core philosophy within Fonterra, this complements our own desire in “Getting Food to where it’s Needed Most”.  Working together, we will strive to ensure everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food .”
