Nestlé is again this season offering an additional 1-2 cent payment to Fonterra farmers who achieve The Co-operative Difference.

Fonterra Director of Sustainability Charlotte Rutherford says she’s delighted the Co-op’s emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).

This week marks the official opening of Fonterra’s new office in Hamilton South Bloc. With sustainability a strategic priority for the Co-operative finding a way to reduce waste from the fit out was an important part of the project and brief to Livingstone Building.

Since the closure of Fonterra’s ethanol plant at its Edgecumbe site in 2020 (Check) the site has been working to recycle the old kit – and with the help of Proquip, it’s managed to recycle a remarkable 98%.

We are already well underway with shifting our manufacturing operations to renewable energy sources. Over the past six years, we have carried out decarbonisation projects at five different sites and we’re looking forward to continuing this momentum.

Fonterra is pleased to announce two new Sustainability Advisory Panel Members – the new Chair Rachel Taulelei (Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Rārua) and new member and current Fonterra farmer Adrian Ball.
