Our Tip Top and Kapiti ice cream brands have scored top honours at the New Zealand Ice Cream Awards.

Fonterra Brands Group Marketing Manager Ice Cream Minna Reinikkala said Tip Top Boysenberry Ripple ice cream not only scooped the top awards for best in category and the supreme winner in the large manufacturers’ group, but also scored an incredible 100 out of 100 from the judges.

“It was a fantastic night for Tip Top and the first time that anyone can remember a product getting a perfect score,” she said. “Kiwis consume more ice cream than anyone else in the world and I suspect this is because our ice cream tastes so good!”

Minna said the team is also delighted with the award for best newcomer with Tip Top Peaches and Cream flavour.

“Another special mention must go to the research and development team whose Earl Grey tea-flavoured Kapiti Gelatea entry in the open creative category scooped a gold award and the best in category award.”

In total Tip Top and Kapiti ice creams won 17 gold and silver awards.
