In all cases we need to progress carefully, so we do not compromise on consumer safety and/or inadvertently increase food waste.
We continually review our packaging to make it more sustainable and to align with the Australian National Packaging Targets. Over 90% of our packaging sold in Australia is already recyclable, but we know the last 10% includes some difficult challenges and we’ll need partnerships with our customers, suppliers, industry and with regulators to be successful.
We’re also making strategic partnerships, such as with REDcycle, to help achieve our goals. REDcycle is a recovery initiative in Australia for soft plastics such as bread bags, cling wrap and cheese wrappers, which often end up in the bin destined for landfill.
