In celebration of Merdeka and Malaysia Day, Fonterra Brands Malaysia (Fonterra) donated six months’ worth of dairy nutrition to the children at Trinity Community Children’s Home (TCCH).

Fonterra provided the children’s home with 180kg worth of Fernleaf CalciYum milk powder and Fernleaf UHT milk with the aim to boost their overall health.

Ms Manisya Ismail, Co-operative Affairs Manager of Fonterra Brands Malaysia said the dairy nutrition company wants to help and support the well-being of all Malaysian children so that they can live full and active lives to reach their potential.

“At Fonterra we want to make dairy nutrition a bigger part of everyone’s lives, especially children. This is one way that we thought we could give back to not only support these children in need but also TCCH who do an amazing job,” said Ms Ismail.

TCCH cares for and supports 23 single-parented, abandoned, abused or neglected children between the ages of 4 to 12 years.

Ms Wendy Hew, caretaker at TCCH, said, “Everyone knows that milk helps to strengthen bones, especially in growing children. We are all heartened to have Fonterra bring Fernleaf CalciYum and UHT milk to the children.”

“I am sure that this supply of Fernleaf milk will enhance the nutritional intake of the children under our care. Thank you Fonterra for bringing dairy nutrition and joy into our home.”

As part of the donation Fonterra employees spent time with the children, playing games, as well as sharing the importance of dairy nutrition and taking care of their health from an early age. They also participated in Merdeka and Malaysia Day themed arts and crafts, sang Negaraku and enjoyed tea together.

Dairy nutrition is at the heart of a child’s growth. Milk is a source of calcium and protein, both of which cultivate strong bones and teeth. Our Fernleaf milk is made with 100 per cent milk from New Zealand, rich in vitamin D and many other essential nutrients including calcium, protein and vitamin A, all of which cater to the needs of a child’s development. By ensuring dairy is part of a balanced diet, a child can grow healthy and strong – which underpins a healthy and happy generation.
