For the second consecutive year, Australia’s favourite butter, Western Star Original Salted Butter, has taken home the award of Champion Butter at the 2017 Australian Grand Dairy Awards.

Now in its 18th year, the awards are Australia’s most prestigious national dairy awards and the highest accolade for Australian dairy producers.

Amanda Menegazzo, convener of the Australian Grand Dairy Awards said that these awards recognise the talented Australian farmers and producers who bring such high-quality dairy foods to our fridges.

Western Star is, “A very high-quality butter. Fresh and sweet with just the right salt balance showcasing how good Australian butter is” said the judges.

Fonterra Regional Manager – West, Andrew Nooy says it’s an honour to be recognised again for exceptional quality and excellence within the Australian dairy industry.

“Western Star is expertly crafted by our people at Cobden – the home of Western Star - from only two natural ingredients, cream and salt, and these awards recognise the simplicity, quality and taste of our butter making.

“Western Star is celebrating its 90th birthday this year, and to have our Western Star win Champion Butter for the second year running is another achievement worth celebrating.

“Western Star is Australia’s number one selling butter, with one pack sold every second, and at Cobden, we’re incredibly proud to be a part of that.

“But, we couldn’t do it without our farmers in the Western district - their high-quality milk becomes the key ingredient for Western Star – and we thank them for helping make this award real.”

Western star is all about simple things, which has allowed this superior quality butter to win multiple awards in the industry over the years and is why it is loved by consumers and chefs for its great taste.
