Update: REDcycle soft plastics recycling program

3 MINUTE READ

We care about the environment and are committed to producing dairy responsibly, including considering our packaging after use.

From 2019 and 2022, we partnered with REDcycle – a recovery initiative for soft plastics like bread bags, cling wrap and cheese wrappers. Unfortunately, the REDcycle scheme is no longer operational, and currently there is no collection of soft plastics as the ‘Return to Store’ option is no longer available.

We’ve removed the REDcycle logo from our new packaging, but you may still see it and out of date Australasian recycling label on our products on shelf in the interim.

We’re working with industry partners to support a lasting solution for soft plastics recycling in Australia through Soft Plastics Stewardship Australia.

In the short term, some councils are trialling soft plastic recycling through their kerbside collection system, and the results will help inform a sustainable national collection system.

Contact your local council to find out if your household has access to soft plastic recycling or visit the ARL website.

We remain committed to delivering recycle-ready packaging, reducing plastic across our range, and minimising waste sent to landfill from our manufacturing sites.

We’ll keep you updated when a new recycling scheme is up and running.
