Simply Milk: Supporting NZ Social Supermarkets and our Community

3 MINUTE READ

Ten cents from every bottle of Simply Milk will now go towards supporting New Zealand's Social Supermarkets, thanks to an initiative between Fonterra Oceania, Foodstuffs North Island, and the Simply Milk brand.

Simply Milk forms part of Fonterra's ongoing commitment to support Kiwis to have access to healthy food and nutrition, especially during times of increasing food insecurity.

Now, consumers can make a difference to local communities while purchasing their everyday milk.

Simply Milk 2L has three variants; Standard Milk, Lite, and Calci

"Food insecurity is an issue for some New Zealanders. Every time a consumer purchases a bottle of Simply Milk, they will not only be receiving the nutritious goodness of fresh dairy milk, but they will also be helping thousands of New Zealanders who access Social Supermarkets every day with 10 cents being contributed to the running of the stores." Renée Milkop-Kerr, Director of Marketing & Innovation, Fonterra Oceania, said.

Where Can I Find Simply Milk?

Simply Milk is available in Foodstuffs North Island stores, including Pak n’Save, New World, and 4-Square. The Simply Milk bottle recently embraced a new look to highlight the new initiative and support for Social Supermarkets.

What Are Social Supermarkets?

Social Supermarkets provide food support to New Zealanders experiencing food insecurity. These supermarkets provide greater dignity of choice and access to healthy food, allowing individuals and families to select grocery items they need most, just like in a regular supermarket. By partnering with Social Supermarkets, Simply Milk is helping to provide a more sustainable and respectful way for people to access nutritious food.

Why is Simply Milk moving away from net carbon zero?

We have been watching how the sustainability landscape has been changing, alongside what is meaningful and relevant to consumers since we launched Simply Milk four years ago.

Listening to feedback from New Zealanders, it was evident that offering a 10-cent a bottle donation is more appealing and easier to understand because it’s meaningful to consumers and gives them a chance to make a positive impact through their purchase, compared to ‘net carbon zero’ which had lower appeal and understanding.

Our Commitment to the Community

At Fonterra Oceania, we are dedicated to supporting our communities and making a difference. This initiative is just one part of our broader commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy food, and we're proud to play a role in making that a reality.
