Kids take over our corporate office!

Workplaces can be bustling places at the best of times, but Fonterra Australia’s Corporate Centre took it to a new level recently with 75 kids descending on the office for the first official Bring Your Kids to Work Day.

Learning about dairy nutrition, participating in physical activities and games, creating works of art, and pizza and smoothie making with mum and dad were the order of the day as part of a planned program run by the team at Balance2Life Group.

Fonterra Australia Director Human Resources Rick Carpenter says the initiative is aimed at making Fonterra a place where families feel welcome by enabling parents to share part of their work life with their children.

Overheard conversations at the colouring table provided unique insight into the jobs Fonterra team members hold, with some mums and dads making and selling cheese, one dad makes “PowerPoints and charts”, and another spends his day “bossing people around”!

Following a successful first outing, Bring Your Kids to Work Day is likely to return, with Fonterra’s regional sites also exploring holding similar events, including a Family Day at Cobden on 18 February.

We spend a lot of our time at work, and being able to involve our families is one way of maintaining good work-life balance, it’s also a great way for kids to see what mum and dad get up to when they go to work each day.
