Your application

All our current vacancies are advertised on our careers page and all applications need to be submitted online. Once you have identified a job that you're interested in, simply click 'Apply'. As part of the application process, we will ask you some questions upfront to learn more about you in relation to the job you have applied for. Don't forget to have your CV/resume on hand as we’ll need to see that too!

This could be because the file is too large or is not in a supported format. Delete any pictures you have on your CV and make sure it is in one of these formats:

  • MS Word (*.doc)
  • MS Works (*.wps)
  • Adobe (*.pdf)
  • Text files (*.txt)
  • Files cannot be larger than 1MB.

If you are still having trouble please email us at Fonterra.jobs@fonterra.com and we can troubleshoot with you.

There are four main reasons this happens:
  1. You have already registered as a user with the same email address. Select ‘forgot my password’ and a link and access code will be sent to your email address. Click on the link or copy and paste the link into a new browser window and enter the new access code when prompted.
  2. Your email address may already be taken by another candidate, which means you need to create a new one. This often happens when family members have a shared email address.
  3. Check that your username is also unique and has no spaces. Remember, usernames and passwords are case-sensitive.
  4. Your password does not fulfil the requirements. Passwords need to be at least six characters long and must contain a mix of numbers and letters.

If you're still having trouble please email us at Fonterra.jobs@fonterra.com and we can troubleshoot with you.

You will receive an email straight away from us acknowledging your application. After this, someone from our recruitment team will be in touch by either phone or email. We try to get back to you as soon as we can but for some roles, we receive a large number of applications – if this is the case, please bear with us we are working hard to review all the applications as fast as possible!

Our recruitment process

Depending on the role you’ve applied for we have a few different steps to our recruitment process. This may include a phone interview, an online assessment to learn more about your preferred way of working, a skills-based assessment or we may even have you complete your very own video interview to help bring your application to life.

For some roles, we will arrange a face-to-face interview, or you may be invited to attend an assessment centre. Don’t worry though – we’re here to help prepare you with the right information so you can give it your absolute best shot.

The interview isn't just about us seeing if you're right for the role; it's also the perfect chance for you to see whether we're right for you. You’ll have the opportunity to ask us questions too!

Unfortunately, we can’t offer every person who wants to join our team a role and if you are unsuccessful, you will be notified by email by our recruitment team. In many cases, due to the high volume of applications, we are not able to provide individual feedback after the initial application. However, if you are interviewed for a position at Fonterra and unsuccessful you will receive feedback following your interview.

If your application was successfully submitted, you will have received a confirmation via email. If you haven’t received this confirmation, you can email us at Fonterra.jobs@fonterra.com and we’ll look into this for you.

If your application was submitted correctly your application will be reviewed by one of our team. We will try to get back to you as soon as we can but for some roles we receive many applications – please bear with us as sometimes this can take us some time!

No. This simply lets us know that you are interested in working for Fonterra. If you have looked on our website and there is not a suitable job advertised now, you can sign up for job alerts. When a role that matches what you’re after is advertised we will send youa notification and from there you can decide if you want to apply.

Once you have completed all the aspects of our recruitment process and been identified as a successful candidate you will be sent a contract that will formalise the job offer. This will also include other information you’ll need to make an informed decision.

At Fonterra, we do not make offers verbally, although we may discuss aspects including location, salary/wage, and possible start dates with you over the telephone or by email prior to you receiving your contract.

Assessment and checks

If you are successful following the interview stage, we will request that you undertake pre-employment checks, which may include all or some of the following:

  • Reference check
  • Criminal background check
  • Entitlement to work check
  • Credit check
  • Pre-employment medical check for some roles/locations

Other roles also require more specific checks that you will be made aware of if applicable.

  • Permanent full time: No specified end date and working a full working week.
  • Permanent part-time: No specified end date, and working less than a full working week.
  • Casual: On-call employment with no set or fixed hours where the employee is called in ‘as required’ for work.
  • Fixed-term: An employment agreement for a specified timeframe with a set finish date

All successful candidates will be required to show entitlement to work in the country to which they have applied to work in prior to commencing employment with us.

If you are on a work visa that fits within the criteria of the role you have applied for, then we can employ you. However, if your visa does not fit the criteria of the role you have applied for, we cannot legally employ you. It’s important that you understand the restrictions and rules associated with your working visa.

Safe hiring practices

Online scams are becoming more common, including in the recruitment process, and unfortunately, Fonterra is not immune. From time-to-time, we have been made aware of fraudulent advertisements via email and social media purporting to be on behalf of Fonterra.

These job adverts may be used to solicit potential job seekers to provide personal identification and/or some type of advance payment.

Please keep the following in mind:

  • Fonterra has a rigorous recruitment process in place and no job offers will ever be made without a formal interview process.
  • If you receive an email from a sender that does not contain the @fonterra.com email address, please treat it as fraudulent.
  • Fonterra will not ask for your personal financial information or require any payment at any part of our recruitment process.
  • If you are unsure at any time about the legitimacy of a job advert please email Fonterra.jobs@fonterra.com before applying.
  • If you believe you have been scammed, we also encourage you to report it to the relevant local agency/body.  In New Zealand this is NetSafe: https://www.netsafe.org.nz/advice/scams/
