Wynyard takes home the Japan Cheese Cup!

We know that our Japanese customers love our Wynyard cheese for its premium quality and consistency, and now it’s been confirmed at Fonterra’s 16th Annual Best Site Cup Awards.

The prestigious Japan Cheese Cup is awarded to the pedigree of Fonterra’s nine cheese plants which export to Japan – including seven in New Zealand – with Wynyard last taking home the award back in 2008.

Our Export Cheese Manager, Ignacio “Nacho” Morfin, said this accolade is a huge achievement for our Wynyard team.

“With around 30% of our total cheese production in Australia exported worldwide including into North Asia, it’s a huge market for our business.

“Japan is a country known for its incredibly high standards for both product quality and customer service, and Wynyard was recognised for the commitment the whole team puts into supplying cheese of the best quality, consistency and performance.

“Tasmanian milk is well known for being made from lush green pastures, so this award wouldn’t be possible without our Tassie farmers who produce the most important ingredient to make such great tasting cheese,” says Nacho.
