Together, we’ve cooked up something special

The past 12 months have been exceptionally challenging for people in need. Demand for food relief has gone up as people face financial pressures from COVID-19, recent floods as well as the bushfires last year.

That’s why we’ve supported Nestlé and Foodbank to create the first ever designed-for-Foodbank custom product – a MAGGI Hearty One Pot Casserole base, which includes milk powder made by Fonterra.

Rolled out to Foodbanks across Australia and New Zealand, there are more than 1.2 million serves being made to help support people in need.

The product is designed to help pull together whatever is in the fridge, or in a good relief hamper, to make a meal for six.

Our general manager for sustainability across Asia Pacific, Jack Holden says that Fonterra has partnered with Foodbank for 12 years, donating 100,000 litres of milk each year to Foodbank’s Fresh Milk Program in Victoria, as well as range of other dairy foods.

“When Nestlé and Foodbank reached out to us to see if we wanted to be involved, we were more than happy to help by donating our skim milk powder.

“We are one of 12 partners who have come together to give resources and time to help create this product, which is made at the Nestlé site in Cambria Park, NZ.

“It’s a great example of businesses coming together from across the supply chain to help with a good cause,” says Jack Holden.

Foodbank Australia CEO, Brianna Casey says that Foodbank receives a huge range of donated food every day and the MAGGI Hearty One Pot Casserole recipe base will be the ultimate value-add enabling people to bring these foods together to create a delicious meal.

“We are so grateful to the partners who have led the creation of this product, and so generously donated their goods and services,” says Brianna.

Nestlé General Manager of Foods, Kristina Czepl says the business and its team are passionate about supporting the community.

“We relished the opportunity to put together a product that is versatile so that people can use any ingredients they have or that are affordable, to create a nutritious meal – that’s delicious too.

“The development of MAGGI Hearty One Pot Casserole recipe base would not have been possible without the support and generous donations of our partners in the supply chain,” says Kristina.
