Anlene Rolls Out Virtual Race, Encouraging People to Do Physical Activity Regularly at Home
A 10-day virtual competition where participants walk, run, and jump at home, rolled out in commemoration of the National Sports Day
Jakarta, September 9, 2021 – According to the 2018 Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas), at least 33.5% of Indonesians were not doing enough physical activity, and the figure is expected to rise amidst the pandemic. It has become a concerning issue because we all know that regular physical exercises and healthy nutrients can help improve agility and bring many benefits for the body and mind. We need to start living a healthy lifestyle and make physical exercises part of our daily routine. As a commitment to encouraging Indonesians to do physical exercises regularly at home, Anlene rolls out 'Anlene Virtual Race', a 10-day virtual competition where participants walk, run, and jump at home, in commemoration of National Sports Day.
dr. Riskiyana Sukandhi Putra, M.Kes, Occupational Health and Sports Director, Health Ministry of Indonesia said, "Reduced level of physical activity during the pandemic can affect our body, increasing the risk of hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and other non-communicable diseases, and our mind, causing anxiety, sleep disorder, stress, depression, and trauma. Despite the pandemic, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle as an investment to ensure our overall health and well-being at every stage of life."
A study revealed that people with sedentary lifestyle were at greater risk of getting hospitalized and mortality when exposed to COVID-19 than those who do proper and regular physical exercise. According to the study, physical exercise can improve a person’s fitness and immune system, helping them overcome pandemic challenges. In relation to this, The Indonesian Health Ministry has developed the SIPGAR app that allows people to easily measure their fitness levels anywhere and anytime.
dr. Riskiyana Sukandhi Putra, M.Kes added, “In line with the People’s Health Movement (GERMAS), a campaign inaugurated in 2017 to fight sedentary lifestyle, it is recommended to do at least 30 minutes of physical exercise per day, up to three or five times per week. Promoting the movement requires a close collaboration between different stakeholders. We highly appreciate Fonterra Brands Indonesia’s initiative and participation to remind and encourage people to do physical exercise regularly at home.”
dr. Leny Pintowari, SpKO, Head of the Sports Medicine Specialists Association (PDSKO) said, “Physical exercise must be incorporated in our lifestyle. We need to be committed, consistent, and disciplined to achieve the optimal result. Walking, running, and jumping are basic movements that everyone can do at home without any gym equipment and they are good exercises if done properly, correctly, and regularly,”
“Walking 10,000 steps a day is feasible even when staying at home. If you usually sit on a couch while working or spending your leisure time, try walking back and forth every hour. Running 1.5 km is actually equivalent to climbing the stairs at home or jogging around for several laps in a day. A 30-minute jumping exercise is fairly easy at home. Choose the most comfortable jumping moves using your preferred fitness app and do 2-4 sets with 10-20 repetitions. These are simple exercises for beginners and trained athletes, and can be adjusted according to your physical capability,” added dr. Leny Pintowari, SpKO.

We can choose the exercises that make us happy and leave us feeling energized. I can take a leisurely walk or jog on the treadmill while enjoying the morning or evening atmosphere on the balcony, or dance to the music on my terrace. Healthy nutrients are also important and should not be forgotten, especially when participating in this virtual competition at home. Always choose an alternative that contains more nutrients than milk (#PilihYangLebih) such as Anlene Actifit 3X and Anlene Gold 5X.
