Glenn & Lynne's Farm | Southland and Otago

From the farmers

Hi, we’re Glenn and Lynne and we have been dairy farming for 15 years.

We initially left Dunedin to go and pay off some debt while renting out our house and the plan was to return after a couple of years. But we never made it back to town, instead spending 12 years sharemilking in Southland before returning to Otago where we are in partnership on our present farm.

We have four children ranging from 6 to 15 who are all involved on the farm at different times of the year. Being beside State Highway 1 we take great pride in showcasing our farm to anyone that passes by.

Our Farm and Environmental Story

We have always cared for our surrounding environment given we have always had waterways running through or on the boundary of the farms we have been on. We are a keen fishing and watersports family so we want to enjoy these right next to anywhere we farm.

We are working through plans with the partners around some wetter areas being planted and also continuing the great work of riparian planting that the former owners have done.

One of the highlights of the farm is the daffodil patch on the main road beside the old Ewing Phosphate building. We also have pockets of Manuka on our runoff which sits behind Lake Waihola.

Community Groups we are involved in

  • Glenn secondary board of trustees and member of Milton rotary
