Sherwyn & Jemmalyn's Farm | Southland and Otago
From the farmers
Hi, I’m Sherwyn and my wife Jemmalyn and I have been farming here in New Zealand for 11 years now. My dairy background before I came here was milking 50 Bulgarian Murrah water buffalos in the Philippines. Coming here to New Zealand was a culture shock for me, in terms of the work, and not to mention the weather (it was like going from a BBQ into a freezer).
Most of my dairy farming life has been spent here in Southland although we did move up north for a year so Jemmalyn could continue her study to be a dentist. I’ve been working on Quadrant Farm for four years now - it is one of Fortuna Group Ltd managed farms - and our team here are very proud of what we’re doing. We host school visits to the farm, and show them our best practice in farming.
Please come and visit on the 10th of December, we’d love to meet you and show you our farm.
Our Farm and Environmental Story
Here at Quadrant Farm were are serious about taking care of our environment. Since last year we don’t have any rubbish holes on farm, we have designed and made our own biodegradable rubbish composter.
Quadrant has been operating for eight years and each year we plant over 1,000 native and exotic trees over our riparian area and shelter belts.
Planting trees and shrubs on farm is a real focus for us and we would love the chance to show you what we are doing to look after the land and the water.
