As New Zealand’s largest company, Fonterra offers a huge range of opportunities in the Agri-Business sector. From connecting with our farmers in store or on the phone, to challenging your skills in project management and process improvement, meeting key stakeholders and working on activities that impact our business on a daily basis you’ll get exposure to it all. You’ll also have the opportunity to get experience within sales, agriculture, agronomy, store development, analytics and more. Opportunities will vary year-on-year depending on business needs but there’s always sure to be something that will create a unique learning experience.
Our graduates undertake 6 month placements with our field teams, our service centre, specialist sales teams, and with Fonterra-owned farms. We work with you to match placements to business need, and your preferences. To be eligible, you must be in your final year of study or recently graduated, and be eligible to work in New Zealand.
Over three months you’ll be given a key project within the business which you’ll be responsible for delivering. We’ll also help you develop your skill set through supportive coaching and mentoring and assist you in building valuable and lasting connections with a range of people across Fonterra. To be eligible, you must be in your second to last year of study and eligible to work in New Zealand.
When you start you’ll develop your skills and expertise through a series of practical placements and development opportunities across the business, both in the classroom and during practical assignments. You’ll also get the opportunity to network, learn from subject matter experts and develop the skills and knowledge that will give you a solid foundation to build your Agri-Business career.
You’ll focus on building your understanding of the dairy industry through a targeted induction and learning programme. Once you complete the programme, we’ll support you to identify and transition into a role that best matches your specific skills, training and aspirations.
Our summer internships are based within one of our Farm Source store teams to be part of being the face and place of Fonterra Farm Source in the rural community. Through a structured programme with key learning objectives, you will discover the different parts of Farm Source and the role they play in supporting our Farmer Shareholders and connecting them to Fonterra.
The programme generally begins late November and runs for 12 weeks with the opportunity for time off for a Christmas holiday. Ideally, you’ll also stick with us throughout your final year of study and continue to broaden your experience by working part time hours at your local Farm Source store – but don’t worry, we’ll ensure they fit around your busy study schedule.
For you it’s an opportunity to be part of something local, and something big. So whether you want to cultivate a career close to home or see the world, with Fonterra Farm Source there’s plenty of scope for you to reach your full potential.
We will begin recruitment for both our 2022/2023 Agri-business Summer Internship as well as our 2023 Agri-business Graduate Programme in July.
