Diversity, Inclusion & Flexibility

At Fonterra, our people are at the heart of our success.

We are committed to attracting, developing and retaining a diverse group of talented individuals and creating an inclusive culture that enables everyone to bring their best and authentic selves to work every day.

Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Across our global workforce, our focus is on ensuring equal opportunities for all to support our diversity and inclusion goals.

This includes identifying and eliminating unexplained gender pay gaps, working to increase the proportion of women in senior leadership roles, and actively driving engagement with Iwi in New Zealand and multi-cultural community groups globally.

We’ve also created platforms that allow for more voices to be heard.

We run an entrepreneur programme where employees form cross-functional teams build their own start-ups.

Our ‘Disrupt’ program has involved a wide range of people aged 21 to 60 representing 27 nationalities, split almost evenly between males and females. This diversity has driven more innovative outcomes, which ultimately feeds into our long-term success and positively impacts the communities in which we operate.  ‘Disrupt’ helped us win the Deloitte Top 200 Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Award in 2017.

You can read more about our commitment to Diversity and Inclusion in this excerpt from our 2018 Sustainability Report.

Flexibility is also an essential enabler for managing the pace of change in today’s working world.

It helps to attract and retain the best people, achieve increased productivity and foster an agile response to our customers and our environment.

At Fonterra we actively encourage and support our people when they need to work from different locations, or at different times.  This supports work-life balance and helps us retain our people if their circumstances change. We welcome talking to you about your flexible working needs.

Fonterra applies the principles of equal opportunity and employment equity to all recruitment and selection processes.

Fonterra's approach to career and job opportunities are maintained to ensure that our actions are consistent and in accordance with local legislation.

We also aim to sustain a work environment that is respectful of individual differences that is free from harassment or unlawful discrimination and will not tolerate either in any form.
