As a Mechanical Apprentice at Fonterra, you’ll be learning new skills and become qualified in a challenging and varied profession. 


Your theory-based learning will align with the practical work you'll complete over the 4 year programme contributing toward a New Zealand Certificate in Mechanical Engineering - Maintenance Level 4.

The programme

4 year programme that has a combination of online learning, on the job assessments and block courses.

Our highly experienced teams will be there to guide and support you along the way while getting exposure to all areas of the manufacturing site. Initially, you'll work from Monday to Friday on-site before progressing into shift work experience.
With your passion and affinity for mechanics, you’ll work closely with our dedicated team, focusing on preventative maintenance and fault diagnostics.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you’ll learn how to proactively maintain a huge variety of cutting-edge technology from pumps and valves through to multi-million dollar assets.

 

You’ll also gain exposure to site utilities including boilers and water treatment plants, and get to learn about planning work, shut down maintenance, and assist with troubleshooting and breakdowns – there’s plenty of variety here!
