SIDDC’s focus is the advancement of South Island dairy farming through networking and harnessing the complementary capabilities of its partners.
In February 2014 Ron was appointed, as a community member, to the Selwyn-Waihora Zone Committee, a Subcommittee operating as part of the Canterbury Water Management Strategy (CWMS). He represented this Committee on the CWMS Regional Committee in 2015 and 2016.
Ron is also one of the inaugural directors of the operating business of the Southern Dairy Hub, a joint venture research and demonstration farm facility owned by DairyNZ, AgResearch and local farmers (through the Southern Dairy Development Trust).
Lincoln University has delegated the management of its demonstration farm to SIDDC to show best practice in productivity, profitability and sustainability. The farm has voluntarily chosen to meet future nutrient loss regulations, while maintaining current profitability.
Previously Ron worked in a range of roles across the New Zealand agribusiness sector, primarily in the arable and dairy sectors and in most parts of New Zealand.
