Malcolm Boyd

Fonterra Alumni 2014 - 2015

Malcolm currently owns, and is a Director of, Hillcrest New World, a supermarket in Hamilton employing 140 people. He previously owned Morrinsville New World for 10 years.

His family dairy farmed in the Waikato for many years before moving into asparagus, and he is currently the Chair of Boyd’s Asparagus Industries Ltd, the largest grower and packer of asparagus in New Zealand

Having graduated from Waikato University with a Bachelor of Management Studies (Accounting & Information Systems) and becoming a Chartered Accountant, Malcolm went on to hold a number of senior finance and strategy roles in large corporates in New Zealand and the UK. He completed postgraduate work in marketing at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) during this time and completed the Fonterra Governance Development Programme in 2015.

Moving into business ownership, Malcolm joined what is now Go-Bus, where he was a shareholder, Director and Chief Financial Officer.

After selling Go-Bus and now with 11 years of experience in the supermarket industry, Malcolm has become a passionate ‘grocer’. He is currently a Director of Foodstuffs North Island Ltd, a member of the Audit, Risk & Compliance Committee and is the New World Committee Chair.

Governance is a path Malcolm is actively following and would like to add more to other organisations in this area.
