Fiona is committed to growing New Zealand’s agricultural sector and has taken leadership roles with several industry bodies. Fiona was a founding member of MIE (Meat Industry Excellence), having resigned to seek election to the Silver Fern Farms Board of Directors.
Fiona is a Director of Cooperative Business New Zealand, commencing her role in August 2016. She is a member of the Beef + Lamb NZ West Otago Farming for Profit Steering Group, the Pomahaka Farmers Water Care Group and a member of the West Otago Health Trust and West Otago Cancer Support Services. Fiona was a farmer representative on Beef + Lamb NZ Southern South Island farmer council, resigning in 2016. Fiona completed the Agri-Women’s Development Trust Escalator Programme in November 2014.
Fiona and husband Nelson have demonstrated farming success with the growth of their operation from 2,500 stock units in 1993 to 31,000 stock units today. Together they have received several farming accolades including Rabobank Lincoln University Foundation South Island Farmer of the Year, Clutha District Farmer of the Year and winners of the National Ewe Hogget Competition.
Fiona is also a volunteer ambulance officer.
