My interest in the dairy industry stemmed from my wife’s family being dairy farmers and my experiences on my grandfather’s sheep and beef farm in the northern Manawatu region.
I progressed from my first job to our first farm at Tirau, milking 140 cows on a very run down 52ha property. It was during our tenure on this property that I started to be involved in aspects of the industry outside of the farm gate. I held positions of liaison farmer for NZ Dairy Group, LIC and in the meat industry for the AFFCO Co-op.
We currently have a farming operation that encompasses 1500 cows on three dairy units plus support land.
My role off farm as an Agri Manager for ANZ National group has given me roles both within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty as well as specialising in the Equity Partnership space nationwide.
I have been heavily involved in the community through BOT, PTA and community and sport club boards as well as coaching sports teams over the years.
