John Stevenson

Fonterra Alumni 2016 - 2017

Born and bred in the Wairarapa, John is proud to be a fifth-generation dairy farmer.

He and his wife Lisa live on their family farm with their two children. The family milks 1500 cows across two operations, and John is currently employed in an operations manager capacity. 


John is passionate about the benefits agriculture brings to wider NZ, and believes there is a significant competitive advantage in our pasture based farming systems.

The positions that John holds reflect his interest in agriculture and the wider community. He is the Wairarapa Ward representative on the Fonterra Shareholders’ Council, a member of the Users Establishment Group (Water Wairarapa irrigation scheme), Vice-President of the Gladstone Rugby Club and has completed DairyNZ’s Dairy Environment Leaders Programme and the Fonterra Governance Development Programme.

John holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Management (First Class Honours) and has employment experience in human resources and industrial relations in a large organisation, as well as international consulting experience in the application of IT systems.
