Since being elected to the Fonterra Shareholders’ Council in 2013, he has sat on the Governance and Ethics, Performance and Co-operative Culture Committees. Ivan is a life member and a registered member of the NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management and is a past National President.
Ivan has a particular interest in business and financial performance, succession and good governance. He is a director or advisory director for 10 medium to large scale farming businesses and is a trustee of many family trusts.
Based in Invercargill, Ivan is the principal of Agribusiness Consultants Ltd, heading a team of specialist and general farm consultants who cover all aspects of farm management, from day-to-day management fine-tuning to property assessments, investment analysis and property supervision. He has international experience having consulted in Ireland and the UK.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Agricultural Science (Hons) in Farm Management from Lincoln University, Ivan worked for MAFTech for three years before setting up his own consultancy practice.
Ivan and his wife Vivienne have three children aged between 19 and 26 and are shareholders in a dry-stock property and three dairy properties, milking a total of 1950 cows, producing a total of 870,000 kilograms of milk solids.
