Stage One focuses on developing your understanding of the fundamentals of governance, including:

  • Developing awareness and understanding of the key requirements for effective governance
  • Understanding personality styles and effecting organisational change
  • Understanding unconscious bias
  • Governance in co-operatives
  • Governance versus management versus representation
  • Decision making
  • Legal and fiduciary duties, and risk
  • Financial literacy for the boardroom
  • Board papers workshop.

Stages Two and Three focus on personal development and putting governance in context, including:

  • The role of the Board in strategy
  • Capital allocation
  • Financial literacy
  • Board simulations
  • The role of Board Chair
  • Trust and influence in the boardroom
  • Developing capability for critical and reflective thinking within governance contexts
  • The perils of groupthink
  • Enhancement of leadership skills and competencies
  • The role of the board in people and culture, financial performance, and government relations
  • Personal governance development plans

Eligibility

Fonterra shareholders (direct or indirect shareholding interest) and herd-owning sharemilkers may apply to participate in the Programme.

A limited number of places may also be made available for members of LIC, Foodstuffs and Silver Fern Farms.
