The Governance Development Programme was established by the Fonterra Co-operative Council and Board of Directors in 2006 to help address dairy industry and rural sector succession needs.

The primary objective of the programme is to create a pool of future farmer leaders by equipping participants with the skills and capabilities required to govern rural organisations and potentially Fonterra.
