AFP holds Anchor Chef Competition 2019

Anchor Food Professionals holds Anchor Chef Competition 2019to Showcase the Talent of Chefs in Creating Indonesian Culinary Innovation Using Dairy Products.

Denpasar, 21 February 2019 – Anchor Food Professionals (AFP), the foodservice business unit of Fonterra Brands Indonesia, today held the ‘Anchor Chef Competition 2019’ on 21 February 2019 at Taman Bhagawan, Bali. The event aims to showcase the culinary talents of chefs from around Indonesia by challenging them to present their best dishes and recipes inspired by the event theme ‘Indonesian Fusion’ with dairy product of AFP. The Anchor Chef Competition is part of AFP’s commitment to cultivating new innovations in Indonesia’s food and beverage industry.

With the theme of Indonesian Fusion, we want to see chefs push the boundaries and innovate with Indonesian cuisine by incorporating AFP’s high quality dairy products.

Brian Juan, Marketing Manager, PT Fonterra Brands Indonesia, said, "We chose Bali for its huge potential in the culinary sector, which features innovative dairy-based cooking and a strong up-and-coming chef community. Bali’s promising food sector was recognised in 2018 by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia as one of three main culinary tourism destinations in the country.

“With the theme of Indonesian Fusion, we want to see chefs push the boundaries and innovate with Indonesian cuisine by incorporating AFP’s high-quality dairy products,” added Brian Juan.

The 2019 Anchor Chef Competition consists of two categories; the Pastry Challenge and Culinary Challenge, involving 20 participants in each category. The judges include representatives from AFP’s regional team, representatives from the Indonesian Chef Association in Bali, and Indonesian culinary experts. The judgment criteria include Mise en Place, Correct Professional, Service, Presentation & Innovation, and Taste.

Chef Steven Ong, Anchor Food Professionals Regional Advisory Chef for Bakery, said, “The pastry and bakery trend in Bali and Indonesia as a whole is immense and we have recently seen a growing number of new cafes, food-preneur startups, as well as online bakery shops across the country. This increasingly competitive environment inspires chefs to be more creative in producing appealing and delicious-tasting food creations with high-quality dairy products from AFP. I believe the Anchor Chef Competition 2019 will be a prestigious event that highlights the exceptional Indonesian talent in the pastry and bakery scene and makes Indonesian Chefs comparable with the world’s best.”
