All Fonterra products have not been identified as a likely source or route of transmission of COVID-19. Pasteurisation of raw milk prevents foodborne disease outbreaks caused by a variety of pathogens.
New Zealand has largely eliminated COVID-19 and there is no community transmission of the virus in New Zealand. This means the risk of our operations being impacted by COVID-19 is very low.
Health, safety, and quality are top priorities for us, and we have stringent quality controls in place across our supply chain. We carry out a range of quality assessments on products, and before exports we clean, inspect, and secure all shipping containers before using them.
To prevent contamination of food with the virus and avoid compromising food safety in the COVID-19 pandemic, Fonterra Co-operative Group is committed to complying with Chinese laws, regulations and standards, and the "COVID-19 and food safety: guidance for food businesses" published by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization, to ensure that food imported into China is not contaminated with the COVID-19 virus and the safety of food imported into China is assured.
If there’s a risk of contamination in our products to China, we are willing to take all necessary measures to eliminate food safety risks and protect consumer health.
